Grammar begins with LETTERS.
Letters have NAMES and are used to spell words, but not speak them.
Letters make SOUNDS and are in the category of PHONICS.
Phonics shows us how to speak sounds and puts each sound together to pronounce words with the process called BLENDING. Blending starts with putting two sounds together and this begins to form a WORD; and once all of the sounds are blended together we can pronounce the final word.
The goal of phonics is to correctly pronounce words.
WORDS become VOCABULARY.
Vocabulary creates knowledge. Knowledge increases intelligence.
